If Antonio was trying to force a move he'd be putting on a show. I actually think he's just past it, simple as that. He should be an impact sub, bought on to run at a tired defence. As it is he's apparently the only player in the footballing world who can play striker in the Moyes set up.

I guess Antonio must be trying to force a move because that was one of the most disgusting performances from a centre forward I've seen

Agree that he's entirely pointless within Moyes's set up and tactics. But his hair transplant seems to have worked, so that's some good news?

Is there a more pointless footballer than Danny Ings

Utterly predictable, I doubt any on here aside of the credit in the bank wankers could not see what was coming

Whilst broadly ineffective, Antonio at least offers the threat of a physical out ball - when was Ings ever that?

As for the sub timings, protect the point mentality and general fuckwittery, what suggests anything but a repeat season of miserable toil?

Oh, and reports of Martial, to ice the cake, what kind of idiocy is that?

Thanks, Keep Dreaming. Reminds me of a poster a few years back - was it Vincent? - who used to post his in-depth ratings on players’ performances and invited responses to agree or disagree. I miss those. If you’re a regular goer, KD, fancy doing this as a weekly contributor?

My notes from the match

Areola did well enough without impressing much. Not to fault for their goal. His contributions seems good, but long balls mainly falls into the hands of the opposition.

Emerson and Aguerd are decent footballers who know how to defend and pass the ball.
Coufal and Zouma though are terrible with the ball. Without better passing skills we have to rely on long balls, wich ultimately is like giving the ball away...

First 20 minutes looked bright and we controlled much of the game, mostly because we dared to press high, but also because Bmouth was careful and low.

As soon as we scored, it looked like we froze and panicked. Passing went missing, high press disappeared and we looked dead certain to concede.
I'm blaming this on Moyes tactics and subs. He deliberately let Bmouth back into the game.

Souceks legs went missing after 60 mins, Antonio was appalling throughout the game. As I said before, he looks like a train of the tracks. Benrahma isn't a winger, and Cornet isn't a striker.

Wasted opportunity to get 3 points, solely down to Moyes.

No surprise with the result and overall performance which was a continuation of the Moyes system of play. I need to question and slate Soucek more often ( if that’s possible ) as he had his best 60 or so minutes in 18 months. But arguably his lack of pace and mobility contributed to their equaliser as he was unable to make the block on the pass to Solanke which he actually deflected to him I think? Might be harsh as he was definitely improved. Fornals centrally helped although Paqueta was the bright spark in midfield and needs to be replaced with quality if, as expected, he goes to City.

Benrahma still as frustrating as ever. He’s not a wide man in many senses. Think he played centrally for Brentford as he lacks pace to get around a player and he cannot cross the ball and doesn’t think to release it early. He’s an impact sub or 60 min man.

Back 4 was ok but both full back positions really need an upgrade. Emerson s ok in a 5 but not a 4 imo

Upfront ? Antonio looking old and Ings too to play in a system relying on feeding off scraps or getting in the end of a ball into the channel. Bowen the highlight going forward.

Areola did well enough in goal. could he have done better on their goal? Don’t know ? Perhaps dived too early but that’s a tad harsh I think.

No surprise we squandered the lead. Ther subs changed things ws we tired and Moyes didn’t respond and they hit a reserved equaliser.

Need 5 or 6 quality players to inject pace, movement and better technical quality on the ball. A forward, at last 1 central midfielder with legs and mobility, 2 full backs.

Bournemouth came up with the devilishly cunning plan of playing it on the floor through the channels thereby nullifying any defensive aerial advantage Soucek had to offer. How did Moyes respond? Well he might have started thinking about including a proper DM in the squad rather than a third goalkeeper -we have just bought one after all. Not holding my breath, mind you.

Soucek did have a decent game. I wouldnt have said Fornals did or any of the forward players. They are little use when you dont have possession and they are not defenders. There is a real lack of pace across the attacking areas. You would have thought that important if you are going to be counter attack side.

Pickle - Good to know he made one good move. I wouldn't be shocked if he goes once JWP and Alvarez are in, he will be down the pecking order, and even more so if we sign one or two more.

Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Soucek made 16 completed passes in the game.

What I will say, defending in our penalty area, mainly his heading, was excellent. If that's the bar we're setting for our central midfielders, then yeah he had a very good game.

If you want to see your team play football WITH the football, that's another story. Not sure it makes you a hater, though.

Did Fornals do anything of note?

Well, apart from winning the challenge to set up Bowen for the goal, not a lot I suppose.

Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
fraser - I thought the same with Fornals, I hear he had a good game but what did he actually do of any note? We seriously need some players who can make things happen. A good side yesterday would have killed off a poor B'mouth side with a second goal, but it was seemingly beyond us, in fact we did the exact opposite.

Two points dropped in a very winnable game, with two tough games now, it's so f'ing tiring.

Did Soucek have a great game or did he just do the basics OK and it looked like a great game because he has set the bar so low?

I thought the midfield 3 did a great job, Soucek had a really good game despite what the haters say on here.

It’s clear we need reinforcements and some pace up front.

Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Pretty much looked the team had been training for a more positive, possession-orientated game while Moyes’s selection, subs and instructions were his own usual defend, hoof-and-run. This of course cost us the win because our lead gave him the scope to clamp down and impose his regime. It was noticeable how Paqueta, Fornals and Emerson faded and Soucek totally failed in the role of DM - their goal was so soft it melted the brain.
